One of the first things we need to do is distribute materials, textbooks, iPads (TK – 2 grades) and Chromebooks/Laptops (3rd – 5th grades) so that our students are prepared for the first day of school on Tuesday, August 18th.
We know that many students have their own devices, but it may be more advantageous for students to use school Chromebooks/Laptops (3rd – 5th grades) and iPads (TK-2nd grades). Below is the distribution schedule for each grade level. Keep in mind our need to limit the number of cars and families picking up items at one time and to ensure proper safety protocols for our limited number of volunteers.
Parents and students will not exit their cars.
  • This year, classroom assignments will be sent via Blackboard Connect, our automated phone/email service the week of August 10th. If you do not receive your class assignment by Friday, August 14th, please call the main office at (310) 472-9829.
  • Students are not placed based on parent requests. Teachers are required to create equitable classes based on student demographics, needs, language classification, and special services.
  • Classroom assignments are final unless changes are required to accommodate an increase or decrease in enrollment. Please do not send an email or come to the office to request a change. Class changes will not be considered.
  • New students without appropriate immunizations and address verification documents will not be enrolled. If you did not provide matching appropriate documents (an approved identification and utility bill) your child is not enrolled, even if you received this letter/email.
It is critical for our school community that we plan for the correct number of returning students and not include students who have relocated or will enroll in another school. Please click the link below to take this three-question survey – submit one survey for each student.
LAUSD wants to be sure that all families can access the Parent Portal. Student attendance, test scores, district information, report cards, district resources, and more importantly Schoology – the virtual learning platform with your child’s assignments and grades are located in the Parent Portal. If you need your child’s identification number or your parent PIN, please call the school office at (310) 472-9829, Monday – Friday from 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Please sign up for the Parent Portal by August 14th.
Each teacher will provide an online orientation for parents on Monday, August 17th so that parents can better understand our virtual learning program. The teachers will provide information on Schoology (our new learning platform), Zoom, website login information, expectations, daily schedules, and more. All parents are expected to attend their child’s class orientation. Zoom information will be sent to parents at a later date.
ROSCOMARE ROAD – Coffee with the Principal
To prepare for the new school year, parents are invited to Coffee with the Principal on Wednesday, August 12th at 9:00am via Zoom. This online meeting will provide the latest information related to our virtual opening and our plan for the new school year. In order to ensure this is a secure meeting, parents must sign up to attend this meeting by Monday, August 10th at 12:00pm. Parents can also send questions. To register for the Coffee with the Principal go to:
Roscomare Road students will log into LAUSD’s learning management system (LMS) each morning to access their curriculum. To support parents in understanding more about this platform, Roscomare Road will host a Schoology parent workshop/webinar on Thursday, August 13th at 6:00pm. More workshops will be provided in early September.
